Art Walk Experience
At 3 places in Greenville
Went with my roommate Juli Phillips
The day was a warm fall day.If you stopped you could hear the laughs of children. In the background you could hear music for dancing. You could smell food but also you could smell the smoke from the wood burning in the firepit. The atmosphere was light but full of life and fun. People weren’t consumed with going from here to there in a certain amount of time. They stopped and enjoyed the life that was flowing on around them. Since people weren’t consumed with busy schedules and from running around like crazy people they stopped and interacted with other people. They noticed things that they wouldn’t normally have the time for. They noticed the chalking of The American Gothic, and if they knew anything about this certain piece of art they would notice that the scowls that are ever present of the farmers faces are replaced by smiles. Who could keep a scowl on their face at such a place? All around me people are laughing and enjoying their time. I take time to thoroughly look at the sculptures at Maves and the festivities at the street part of the walk. I was not expecting that the community would come together for the Artwalk but was pleasantly surprised when they did. I will most likely go back to this fantastic event again next year.
